Begun in 1974, the Kalamazoo County Silent Observer program operates as an independant non-profit organization. The concept was developed through a combination of efforts by local media, businesses, civic and social clubs, law enforcement agencies and the public. Donations of airtime, newspaper space, and reward monies are welcome and appreciated, and are very important elements in the program's effectiveness.
Silent Observer of Kalamazoo County is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. It is the vision of Silent Observer to empower the community to have safer neighborhoods, schools and work environments by providing a voice that citizens can use to take a stand against criminals without fear of retaliation.
