Mark Jackson Killed in the 1000 Block of Interfaith Boulevard

Kalamazoo, MI:  On Tuesday April 9, 2024, at 10:25 p.m., Officers responded to multiple reports of shots fired involving an unresponsive male bleeding from the head in the 1000 block of Interfaith Boulevard.  On arrival, Officers were confronted with a chaotic scene including a crashed vehicle with bullet holes, multiple shell casings, and a small crowd of uncooperative onlookers.  Adjacent to that scene, Officers found the unresponsive male inside an apartment and rendered emergency medical aid with the assistance of Life paramedics.  The victim, Mark Wayne Jackson, a 53-year-old resident of New Baltimore, Michigan, was transported to an area hospital.  The gunshot wound was fatal, and Mr. Jackson was declared dead a short time later. 

The investigation has shown that the suspect shot at the occupants of the vehicle, then fled on foot.  None of the occupants were injured.  However, one of the rounds found the front door of the apartment where Mr. Jackson was staying.  The round penetrated the door striking and killing Mr. Jackson.

Two Persons of Interest Arrested on Unrelated Charges in the Killing of Mark Jackson

Kalamazoo, MI:  Officers and Detectives have arrested two persons of interest on unrelated charges in the killing of Mark Jackson.  The details surrounding the arrests cannot be disclosed at this time.  Detectives are continuing to pursue leads, interview witnesses, and gather evidence to build a case.  More information will be released when doing so will not undermine the investigation.
